Sermon: June 15, 2025

Reading: John 16:12-15

Today is Trinity Sunday. It is a celebration of the relationship between God, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. It is also a celebration of how we are invited to participate in the relational flow of love within the Trinity.

Learning about the Trinity teaches us how we are to treat one another; how we are to treat refugees and immigrants – how we are to treat all humanity – with the same love and respect that is shared in the relationship of the Trinity, a relationship that all people invited in to as members of God’s family.

As prophetic witnesses to God’s love, we are bridge builders between the kingdom of God and the world; that’s the purpose we serve! We give voice to those who don’t have one; we stand for those who can’t, and we lift up those who the world puts down. We feed those who are hungry, give water to those who are thirsty, and declare freedom to those who are oppressed.

We seek and serve Christ in all persons, loving all of God’s creation. We strive for justice and peace among all people and respect the dignity of every human being. Because each and every human being is loved equally by our God, who created us.

Be that prophetic witness, be that bridge for the kingdom of God. It’s all part of the loving relationship we share with our God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Witness to the love of God that’s in you to someone and watch their lives transform; watch the world transform into the image of God’s love!

May our hearts and minds be filled with the knowledge and love of God so that there is no room for hate. May our days be filled by enacting Jesus’ commandment of loving one another as Christ loves us so that there is no room for fear. And may we be guided and comforted by the Holy Spirit so that with our hearts enlightened and aligned with the love of God, we can boldly share with the world the harmony and tranquility that comes from the gift of God’s Peace.
